Dancing The Queens Returns!
We are looking forward to celebrating the orixá queens in song, dance, rhythm and story with our wise griot Egbomi Cici and our Co-Artistic Directors Linda Yudin & Mestra Vera Passos on Sunday, May 21 from 10am-1pm!
In previous years, the community has learned about these divine feminine Orixás: Oia Iansã, Nanã, Iemanjá and Oxum❤️!
Oia Iansã is a deity associated with winds, lightning, and storms. Oia Iansã is considered to be a powerful and unpredictable force, capable of bringing change and transformation and possesses a deep relationship with the ancestors.
Nanã is of the marshes, swamps and raw matter. Her colors are dark blue and lavender. Nanã is the primordial mother that birthed Obalúayé and Oxumaré.
Iemanjá is the energy of total consciousness. She rules the mind, thoughts, and intellect. She connects different continents and cultures. Her movements are calm, slow, and nurturing. Iemanjá is related to the second, sacral chakra and the heart chakra. She is the mother of humanity, Mother of all.
Oxum is the essence of perfumes and the brilliance of gold. She is mysterious and secretive. Her movements are very elegant and graceful, and she emanates love and sensuality wherever she goes. She corresponds to the second chakra, the sacral area and reproductive organs, as well as the heart chakra, and is the essence of fecundity.
We look forward too celebrating with you the 6th annual Dancing the Queens!
